I chose to install the latest version of ESXi (5.5). The first issue I had was the NIC not being recognized. VMware ESXi 5.1 can be installed RAID1 Software? Unable to install grub to software Raid array in Ubuntu. ESXi install- no HD recognition. After all the different OS's I've installed on this when the first install of ESXi was successful built over XP-Ubuntu-ESXi. Software/fake RAID if applicable, legacy emulation.
It was installed over Ubuntu 1. Subsequent to that install (it's a test box), I installed Hyper- V over it. Then I decided to go back to ESXi. Here's where the problems started. With this install the installation failed to recognize any media to install to, no recognition of the hard drive. So the install reverted back to Hyper- V (ran fine). I nuked the drive with d- Ban and tried ESXi again, same problem: no HD recognition. I installed Windows XP with no problems. Then tried installing ESXi over it, same problem. Then I installed Ubuntu server over XP, no problems. I'm using ESXi 5. I used in the first place. It might have been 5. Every other OS installs fine and no problem with the HD recognition during installation. Only ESXi 5. 5 is having problems. What gives and how can I fix it?
